Children’s hospital in Belarus gets a Happy New Year
The Minsk Palace of Children and Youth put on a performance for the children in the hospital hall playing the characters Ded Moroz (Belarusian Santa Claus) and Snegurochka (Ded Moroz’s granddaughter) as well as other fairy tale heroes, singing and dancing with the children around a Christmas tree.
After the show the BKA and Road Traffic Police talked to the children about the basic principles of road safety – covering the importance of using reflective elements and demonstrating how to cross the road correctly. The children then took part in a series of fun quizzes and competitions on what they had learned. The BKA team and characters also visited each ward to reach children who were unable to leave their beds.
The BKA team, together with the other partners, were eager to ensure every child had a good time before the holidays despite being in hospital. Each child received a set of gifts from the BKA and Road Traffic Police including sweets, brochures, posters, stationery and other useful things. The main gift was a cheerful New Year’s mood and warm memories.
