EASST joins iRAP Star Rating for Schools training in Serbia
Last month EASST’s Emily Carr joined EuroRAP’s Development Manager James Bradford in Belgrade to train representatives from FIA clubs across Eastern Europe in the use of the Star Rating for Schools App (SR4S).
The SR4S App combines an easy-to-use android tablet app with a web-based platform for sharing results. The application provides road safety NGOs a convenient user-friendly tool to measure the risk children are exposed to on their journey to and from school.
During the visit, teams from the AMSS Autoclub Serbia, Bulgarian Automobile Union (UAB), Auto – Moto Association of Macedonia (AMSM) and Shoqata Auto Moto Dardania (SHAMD) learned about the background and theory to using the app and had to opportunity to test it in the field. In addition, the Group were given an overview of EASST’s work and introduced to the EASST Road Safety Education Pack.
Combining the use of the SR4S app with improvements in road engineering around schools and better road safety education that is tailored to local contexts via the EASST Road Safety Education Pack makes the perfect recipe for keeping children safe on the roads.
EASST is the latest NGO to join as a lead partner in implementing SR4S. We are delighted to be able to share the app with our local partners and to integrate it into our work to ensure a safe journey to school for every child in the EASST region.
