In recognition of the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims held on 18th November 2012, EASST’s partner in Kyrgyzstan held an event in Bishkek to promote road safety and to support those who have lost loved ones.
The NGO’s School Road Safety Inspectors distribute road safety leaflets
Organized by EASST Kyrgyz partner ‘Road Safety NGO’, the event brought together the NGO’s young road safety inspectors from schools in Bishkek with members of the public. Those involved held banners calling for all road users to drive carefully. The school road safety inspectors distributed leaflets on behalf of the school children of Bishkek urging drivers to follow the rules of the road.
Remembering road traffic victims of Kyrgyzstan
Doves were released at Ala-Too Square in memory of road traffic victims. The event was recorded by the Youth Azattyk TV who prepared a 30 minutes programme dedicated to World Remembrance Day and the road safety situation in Kyrgyzstan. The action also received media attention from others:
