The Global Meeting was organised by the Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety (the Alliance), and the Ministry of Transport, Malaysia, and hosted by the World Health Organisation (WHO). More than 200 road safety NGOs and stakeholders from 70-plus countries renewed their commitment to enabling governments and communities to achieve the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goal to halve the number of global deaths and injuries from road traffic accidents by 2020.
Gela Kvashilava, the Chairman of EASST’s Georgian partner, “Partnership for Road Safety” was elected for the Board of Directors of the Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety (the Alliance) for next four years. He was voted by the 70 NGOs from the different countries. The election was conducted during the 5th Road Safety Global Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia . The Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety (the Alliance) was established in 2012 by NGO members of the UN Road Safety Collaboration (UNRSC) and currently represents more than 180 member NGOs working in road safety from 90-plus countries around the world. Georgia and the foundation “Partnership for Road Safety” has been the member of the Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety since 2013.

Lika Merabishvili, Project Coordinator of the foundation “Partnership for Road Safety” attended the road safety trainings in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which was organized by the Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety (the Alliance), FedEx and the Ministry of Transport, Malaysia. The trainings were only for the Road Safety Advocates, who were selected in September, 2016, in Memphis, the USA. Lika Merabishvili, Project Coordinator of the foundation “Partnership for Road Safety” delivered the presentation on the seat belt campaign and current road safety situation in Georgia at the biannual Fifth Global Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
