Road Safety in Kazakhstan

Our local road safety partners

We support road safety in Kazakhstan through our local partner Common Road NGO. Common Road was formed in 2013 and launched their road safety activities in accordance with the new Road Traffic Law of Kazakhstan in April 2014. The NGO supports the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety and the National Programme of Development ‘Kazakhstan 2050’. They work closely with the State Road Traffic Police and have been an EASST partner since 2014. Common Road currently have two main projects: ‘Safety Car Almaty’ and ‘Be Visible at Night’.

There are on average 3983 road fatalities every year.

5% road victims remain permanently disabled.

74% road fatalities are male.
