EASST’s Kyrgyz partner, Road Safety NGO, initiated a roundtable discussion at the Ministry of Labor, Youth and Migration in cooperation with the Democratic Commission of USA Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic with the theme ‘Let’s Strengthen Road Safety Together’. The roundtable, which took place on 21 January 2014, provided a platform for representatives of the government, civil society and others to discuss the current road safety challenges in the Kyrgyz Republic and possible solutions to those challenges.
Twenty representatives of the government and other agencies, as well as youth associations, participated in the event. A wide range of issues were discussed by the group, including traffic regulations, lack of knowledge among drivers and pedestrians of the rules of the road, corruption, attitudes to driving, and many ideas were offered to forge a common approach to tackle these issues.

The event also included a presentation by Road Safety NGO of their current projects including a demonstration by Chinara Kasmambetova of their latest road safety music video along with a new video course for driving school graduates.
