On 1st February 2016, EASST partner organisation the Automobile Club of Moldova (ACM) joined the ‘Petrom for your Child’s Safety’ campaign which is aimed at improving children’s safety on roads.

The campaign targets preschool children from 24 kindergartens in Moldova and promotes better knowledge and understanding of traffic regulations through offering examples and strengthening attitudes towards personal safety.

Student volunteers from Chisinau and Balti have been recruited as “Road Safety Ambassadors of Petrom” and will carry out the main campaign activities, which involves training over 600 pre-school children in both cities.

On 10th -11th February, the volunteers were trained by representatives from the ACM and the National Patrol Inspectorate in road safety best practice, skills development and promoting road safety through behaviour and ability among children, as both pedestrians and passengers, as well as learning how to work with children and teach them how to more experience and enjoyment from what they do.

The workshops were highly interactive and all the participants had access to road safety materials and resources such as video clips, games, brochures, flyers and reflective accessories. These resources will be subsequently used in road safety education for children which will focus on:
