Poignant ceremony marks the World Day of Remembrance in Kyrgyzstan
In memory of every person who lost their lives this year Road Safety Kyrgyzstan, in partnership with the OSCE, World Health Organisation, Ministry of Health and Road Police, unveiled a special art installation depicting the silhouettes of the 938 people killed in 2016 alone. There was also an ‘open mic’ where friends and family of victims could pay tribute to their lost loved ones.
The event took place at the Kyrgyz National Agricultural University, where pop-star and Road Safety Ambassador Ayim Ayilchieva gave a moving address on the importance and seriousness of road safety.
The World Day of Remembrance is an annual commemoration held around the globe. This year the theme is “From Global Remembrance to Global Action across the Decade” aiming to remind us only by taking action and improving road safety can these deaths be prevented.
