On 22nd September, EASST partner, the Automobile Club of Moldova (ACM), in partnership with the National Patrol Inspectorate of the General Police Inspectorate (GPI), participated at the opening of 15th International Security Exhibition in Chisinau, in order to raise awareness and promote road safety culture in Moldovan society.
“Security-2016” is an exhibition of technical resources aimed to ensure public, informational, industrial and anti-inflammatory security, as well as of security services. The exhibition programme included documentaries, roundtable discussions and thematic seminars organised by specialised subdivisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The ACM presented to visitors, informative materials about traffic rules, posters, and car air-fresheners in order to raise awareness about fair and conscious behaviours in road traffic amongst both pedestrians and drivers.
Visitors to the exhibition also had the opportunity to have a go on the ACM’s ‘seat belt slide’, donated by the FIA Foundation and EASST, which simulates a frontal collision at a speed of 12-15 km/h, experiencing for themselves the effect of a crash and thus realising the importance of wearing a seat belt and how it can save their lives.
At the same time, the youngest visitors of the exhibition participated to a practical training exercise put on by the National Patrol Inspectorate. The road traffic playground for children, provided by the ACM with the support of Estonian Government of Police, taught children the main road safety rules to follow when riding their bikes and why it is important to respect them.
In addition to viewing the most advanced technologies and security equipment, exhibition visitors could admire an exceptional show presented by the cavalry platoon of the National Patrol Inspectorate and Model-Orchestra of the Carabineers Troops Department (CTD) together with the Guard of Honor of the CTD.
