Remembering Margie Peden
It is with profound sadness that we share news of the death of our beloved EASST Trustee, Margie Peden.
Margie was a titan of the global road safety community and will be sorely missed by all who knew her. During her long career at the WHO Margie coordinated the unintentional injury prevention team, where her work helped to raise awareness of road safety and build support for global action. Prior to that she worked as an ICU nurse for ten years, and she carried that kindness and compassion with her throughout her career.
On retiring from the WHO, Margie joined EASST’s Board of Trustees in 2017 and became our Deputy Chair in 2023. In this role, she gave her time generously, shared her expertise, supported our projects, and travelled widely to represent EASST, bringing with her knowledge and commitment that strengthened EASST in so many ways.
She was a truly valued part of our EASST family, adored by all our staff, trustees, and partners. We all learned so much from her and we take this legacy with us as we continue our mission to save lives on the roads.
We are sending all our love and deepest condolences to Thea and all of Margie’s family and friends.
