Maternity hospital № 3 in the Tajikistan capital, Dushanbe, is situated close by to the newly reconstructed M41 highway, Somoni Avenue, where heavy, fast-moving traffic can pose particular risks to pedestrians and other road users.
As part of their initiative to reduce road safety risks along this stretch of road, EASST partners, the Young Generation of Tajikistan, teamed up with the Dushanbe Traffic Police to to visit the nearby maternity hospital to raise awareness of the risks on their doorstep. During the event staff and visitors of the hospital were given information about the road reconstruction works on the M41 and introduced to key topics on pedestrian safety.
The meeting was organised as part of a wider project to road road safety awareness along the Somoni Avenue which is currently being implemented by EASST and the YGT in collaboration with the State Auto Inspection under the Ministry of Internal Affairs and support of Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan, with the financial support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
