HAYAT NGO, EASST’s partner in Azerbaijan, have published results of a new survey on seat belt use by motorists in Baku. The data compiled will be used to assist HAYAT and EASST in targeting the most vulnerable drivers during future seat belt campaigns.The full results of the assessment, conducted during 15th – 22nd December 2011, can be viewed by following this link:
According to the obtained data, only 27% of Baku drivers wear seat belts, with women and owners of modern cars being more prone to using them. Worryingly, only 9% of taxi drivers observed wore seat belts. In 2012, EASST, in cooperation with HAYAT and the FIA Foundation, will be focusing efforts on various seat belt initiatives in order to increase the use of seat belts among drivers in Azerbaijan.
