Welcoming Bosnia and Herzegovina Automobile Club as new EASST partner

Bosnia and Herzegovina, News, Road Safety Governance and Capacity Building

We are delighted to welcome the Bosnia and Herzegovina Automobile Club (BIHAMK) as our new EASST partner.

BIHAMK is a non-governmental organisation in that plays important role in promoting road safety and reducing traffic crashes and their tragic consequences. As road safety remains a critical challenge for the country (Bosnia and Herzegovina has one of the worst fatality rates in Europe, with over 50% more fatalities compared to the EU average), BIHAMK has been actively supporting accomplishing UN road safety goals during the decades of 2010-2020 and 2020-2030 by implementing numerous projects to raise awareness about key road safety issues, including seatbelt and baby seat usage, safety of pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists, distracted driving and post-crash response.

Last year, EASST worked with BIHAMK to deliver an exciting project aimed at road safety in tunnels in Sarajevo supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Shareholders Special Fund.

We formalised our ongoing partnership this week at the FIA extraordinary General Meeting in Samarkand, Uzbekistan where Dmitry Sambuk from EASST and Mr Rasim Kadić from BIHAMK signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the two organisations.
