On 22nd September 2013, EASST’s Kyrgyz partner Road Safety NGO took part in a pedestrian awareness event on the streets of Bishkek.
The event, named “Pedestrian Paradise”, was initiated by the City Development Agency and had the aim of improving traffic safety on the streets and promoting a healthy lifestyle among Kyrgyz citizens.
Materials were distrubuted regarding pedestrain safety accompanied by other awareness-raising activities aimed at tackling the conflict between pedestrians and drivers in Bishkek.
Road Safety NGO, in partnership with the City Development Agency and others, advocates for stronger legislation that will more clearly define the rights of pedestrians.
